George Pittar was just a toddler when his family moved to Vanuatu, where he first learned to surf on pristine, uncrowded reef breaks. After a decade surfing perfect waves, he returned to Sydney to a rude shock. Shifty beach breaks and heavy crowds were a far cry from the empty waves he grew up on.
George Pittar has gone on a giant-killing run to win the Western Australia Margaret River Pro. The underdog from Manly took out every single past world-champ currently on the men’s tour on the way to the podium.
Undeterred, Pittar doubled down on his development, refining his razor-sharp surfing and competitive mindset as he climbed through the junior ranks and onto the Challenger Series in 2023. His rapid progression earned him a wildcard into the 2024 Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach, his debut Championship Tour appearance, which he backed up with another opportunity at the Margaret River Pro shortly after.
In 2025, Pittar claimed his rightful place on the world stage full-time, qualifying as one of the top 36 male surfers in the world. Having requalified for the CT in 2026, he continues to stand out as one of Australia’s most promising emerging talents.
