The Ultimate Women’s Winter Wetsuit Guide

Finding the right wetsuit is never an easy task, and it's more difficult now than ever. With so many options, so many different brands of rubber, so many different shapes and sizes, how can a woman find the suit that's right for them?

That's a question that The Mermaid Society is trying to answer, with their 2018 Women's Winter Wetsuit Guide. This year we supplied the wetsuit testers with a Flashbomb 3/2 to wear in, surf in and review.

Their thoughts? Jess said…

"I'd never worn a Rip Curl wetsuit before so I was excited to see if it met the hype. I really liked it, love the print and the slick subtlety of the design, as well as all the features. I think it's my favourite!

"Really easy entry and exit with the chest zip, which looks and feels really sturdy.

"This wettie has full body insulation so it was ridiculously warm. I tested it in our last session of the day. The wind was up, the sun was going and we were all starting to get the chills after six hours in the water, but as soon as I hit the water it was like I had a waterproof electric blanket on. You'd think the full lining would restrict movement, but it didn't at all and I was really surprised by the full range of movements that I had without any effort.

“The sizing was perfect for me. I'm a size 8 normally and this was spot on a size 8 for me, so it just felt right. All the wrist and ankle points were stayed put and no water entered through those points at all.

“A great all-around winter wetsuit for regular cold-water girls. It will make getting in in the colder months a lot easier, that's for sure.”
