Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach

Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach

Due to the continued evolution of the COVID-19 pandemic, the World Surf League (WSL) is postponing or cancelling all events, at all levels of competition, through the end of May. This includes the postponement of the 2020 Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach.

The current and quickly evolving changes to international travel are making it extremely challenging to determine an appropriate time to recommence the event and get surfers to and from locations safely.

Rip Curl look forward to a happier time in 2020 when the event can run and we can ring a Bell at the 59th Rip Curl Pro.

The WSL and Rip Curl will continue to provide updates as they are available.

2020 ushers in the 59th year of the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach, the longest running event on the WSL World Championship Tour. The famous cliffs of the Bells Bowl amphitheatre holds a very special place in surfing folklore, and the iconic Bell trophy is one of the most sought after achievements in our sport. As the legend goes, “You’ve got to win it to ring it!” And in 2020, the best surfers in the world will once again have their chance to ring their way into history.

The Rip Curl Pro is the second event on the 2020 World Surf League (WSL) World Tour. The event holds a very special place in surfing folklore, as the longest running world championship level contest on the World Tour.

It's tradition that the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach waiting period includes the Easter long weekend.

Event: April 8 - 18, 2020

*The event will run in the best swell conditions during this date window. For live updates, follow @ripcurlpro (or @ripcurl) on Twitter

A Waste Wise Event

The Rip Curl Pro is a Waste Wise event, so we ask you to please keep the place clean this April and support us in out endeavour to reduce impact on the surrounding environment. Bells Beach is part of Point Addis Marine National Park and Surfing Reserve, so deserves all of our respect.

The base location is Bells Beach, Victoria about a 70-minute drive from Melbourne.

The Rip Curl Pro is a mobile event, with back up venues of Winki Pop (Immediately adjacent to Bells) and Johanna (160km from Bells Beach along the Great Ocean Road) in case surf conditions are not favourable at Bells.

Please be aware that the Bells Beach Surfing and Recreational Reserve does not allow dogs on site for the duration of the event.
